The Vortex - Dirty Soul

A Manchester band who cite The Stone Roses, Oasis and Happy Mondays as influences. That’s all you need to know really. There is a whole world of music outside the Northwest of England that The Vortex seem stubbornly oblivious to. Consequently they sound like a poorer version of those bands - Liam Gallagher’s swaggering vocals about night-life for most of the verse followed by a chorus typical of the Happy Mondays with female backing vocals. If you like those bands this will either be a worthwhile purchase or you’ll find them an insulting tribute act.
